What bio microneedling is
Bio microneedling is a revolutionary patented skincare treatment. This procedure utilises nano particles from sponges that penetrate deeply to stimulate collagen production and enhance skin texture.
The active component is the spicule: a microscopic, needle-shaped structure that occurs naturally in freshwater sponges. Worked into the skin, these spicules create the same kind of controlled micro-stimulation a needling pen does, without a device passing over your face.
What it targets
- Active acne
- Acne scars
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Pigmentation
- Sun damaged skin
- Stretch marks
How it differs from a needling pen
The obvious difference is that there’s no motorised device and no needle cartridge. The more practical difference is what happens afterwards.
A needling pen leaves the skin red and warm for a day or two. Bio microneedling instead produces a shedding phase: for roughly 3 to 5 days the skin feels dry, tight and slightly gritty, then begins to flake as the surface layer clears.
Neither is better in the abstract. They are different recovery patterns, and which suits you depends on your skin and your calendar.
The shedding phase, honestly
We flag this upfront so you can plan around it. The flaking is visible, more like dry skin lifting than dramatic peeling, and it passes within a few days.
Book bio microneedling for a quiet week, with no wedding, photos or big presentation in it, and follow the aftercare you’re given. Letting the flaking lift on its own is what gives you the result.
When it looks its best
Skin generally looks its best from about 2 weeks post-treatment, once shedding has finished and the new collagen has begun to organise. A course spaced across several months does considerably more than one session.
Where to have it on the Gold Coast
Bio microneedling is still uncommon in Australia, which is part of why searches for it so often go unanswered locally. We run it at our Southport clinic at $299 per treatment, with aftercare products supplied.

How much does bio microneedling cost?
At e-skin it’s $299 per treatment. Current pricing is on our Fresha booking page.
