What Faradic EMS does

Faradic EMS passes a low level electrical current through the tissue, prompting the muscle beneath to contract and release. The muscle does the work without you having to do it, which is where the name muscle stimulation comes from.

It sits in a different category to the rest of our menu, and that’s exactly why it complements them. HIFU works at the foundational layer to lift, skin needling works on the surface for texture, and Faradic works the muscle in between.

Face and body

On the face it’s used for toning, particularly along the jaw and cheeks. On the body it’s used to work larger muscle groups. Which pads go where, and at what intensity, is set to suit you at the appointment.

What it feels like

A distinct tingling and a visible muscle twitch. It’s not painful, but it’s a sensation people notice, and it’s unlike anything else on our menu. The intensity is adjustable throughout, so tell your therapist if it’s more than you want.

A course, not a single session

Muscle responds to repetition, in exactly the way it does at the gym. A course spaced across several weeks is what produces a visible change, in exactly the way a few weeks at the gym does. Book it as a course and judge it at the end of one.

Who it suits

It suits someone whose concern is tone and definition rather than skin texture or laxity. If HIFU or a facial is the better fit for your concern, we’ll say so at your consultation and point you there.

Common questions

Does Faradic EMS hurt?

No. You feel a distinct tingling and the muscle visibly contracting, which most people find odd rather than uncomfortable. The intensity is adjusted to suit you and can be changed at any point during the session.

How many sessions do I need?

Muscle responds to repetition, so a course over several weeks does considerably more than a single session. Your therapist will set a realistic schedule at consultation.

Can I combine it with HIFU or a facial?

Yes. They work on different layers, muscle versus the skin above it, so they complement each other rather than compete.
